
A frequent use case for our Smart Office portfolio is the recording of workstation utilization. The aim is to optimally adapt the number of available workstations to demand in order to save costs and make optimum use of space. Desk sensors such as the EnoSense® Desk or the EnoSense® Waall + Desk are attached to the individual workstations/desks as a data source. This is done very simply during operation by mounting on the desk using the double-sided adhesive pad already attached to the sensor housing. The sensors, which can number several hundred per floor and building, send an EnOcean message when movement or vibration is detected. An EnoDisc® within range detects the message and forwards it to the VL-700 BASE via Ethernet. Depending on the configuration there (up to 500 sensors are possible), this then sends the data in JSON form to the MQTT broker of choice. In this form, we have already made several hundred buildings a good deal more efficient in terms of use and cost-effectiveness.
